This past Thursday, JV boys baseball beat the Newnan Cougars, 11-3.

“The boys have done really well this year,” assistant coach Nate Mothershed said. “We just got to keep working on the fundamentals and I look forward to seeing what these guys do in the future.”

The Panthers scored two runs in the first inning with a few walks and a solid triple. Freshman Maddox Mothershed hit a triple scoring two more.

Newnan’s pitcher began struggling and got several of the boys to walk, leading to a few walk-in runs.

Freshman Riley Shamrock’s single scored two more as the Panthers mounted a solid lead after two innings, 9-1.

The JV boys kept the momentum going in the third, bringing in another run after a few more walks and a single.

After a few walks, Newnan singled and got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs.

Despite the huge lead, the JV boys did not let up, bringing one more run in before the end of the short fourth inning game.

“We just got to work on those routine plays,” freshman Maddox Mothershed said. “If we don’t it leads to them getting momentum and possibly coming back.”

This was the last home game for JV baseball. They travel to Pike on March 29.
